Two Local Churches Offer Vacation Bible School

For structured learning and fun based around Biblical principles, check out these two summer programs.

University Baptist Church and have teamed up to offer two Vacation Bible Schools starting Monday for children and families looking for ways to spend their summer days.

Mark McIntyre, associate pastor of music and education at UBC, said the two churches are working together to "bring the word of God" to people in the community. Although the two churches are offering two separate weeks of bible school, they are working closely to bring attention to what their churches have to offer to children starting from age 4 through 6th grade.

McIntyre said UBC will use the theme of "Shake It Up," focusing on God's "recipes" for life, through worship, assembly, recreation, crafts and music.

At Riverdale Presbyterian Church, Carolyn Fink, the director of Christian education, said she hopes students will learn about the Bible in a fun way.

"I think that kids that don't go to Sunday School will find VBS to be a fun, non-threatening way to try church out," Fink said, who has been running the program there for 20 years.
