University Park Students Win County Science Fair Awards

Five students discussed their science fair projects Monday night at the council meeting.

If you've ever wondered if those rechargeable batteries will always keep their charge, or whether the color in that dress made of natural fabrics will fade, maybe you should ask these elementary school children.

Five students presented their award-winning county science fair projects to an audience of guests at Monday's mayor and council meeting.

Fifth-graders Fred Buchanan and Charles Dawson, fourth-graders Amelia Komisar-Bury and Andrew Martin and sixth-grader Nelson Lotz discussed their findings from their various projects which tested dyes, speed, electricity and more.

Two of the five students won the grand prizes at the county fair.

Mayor John Tabori, who helped judge the county competition, presented each of the students with an award from town for their efforts.
