University Park Woman's Club Awards Two Students with Scholarships
The woman's club names it's annual scholarship recipients.

The University Park Woman's Club recently named two recipients of their annual $1,000 scholarships — the Doris McPhee Scholarship given to a Northwestern High senior and the UPWC Scholarship given to a graduating senior from University Park or a relative of a town resident or club member.
Fatoumata Camara, of Greenbelt, will receive the Doris McPhee Scholarship. Camara plans to study pre-medicine at Pennsylvania State University at Mont Alto in hopes of becoming a physician.
She and her family originally came from Africa. She has been on scholastic honor roll since her freshman grade year at and receieved the “Most Athletic Scholar Award” for basketball. Camara is the captain of the women's junior varisty and varsity teams, historian of the Student Government Association, and a member of the National Honor Society.

She has been working since sixteen to provide additional support for her family and herself, and has both volunteered and worked at local nursing homes.
Louise Hall Ahmann is the recipient of this year's UPWC Scholarship, which she will use to study Music Business at New York University.

Ahmann is an AP scholar, received an honorable mention as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, is the treasurer of the Latin Honor Society, head of the Blood Drive Committee, and a member of the music honor society.
She has tutored students for the past two years and has participated in the Prince George’s County High School Honor Band.
The University Park Woman's Club has been handing out these scholarships for the 65 years and raises the money for the awards with it's annual and sale and other events throughout the year.
The woman's club will honor the awardees with a luncheon on June 6.
