2-Alarm Fire Forces Evacuation Of Rockville Apartment Building: Report

Grovesnor House Apartments were evacuated Thursday afternoon as Montgomery County firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire there.

ROCKVILLE, MD – Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a two-alarm fire around 12:30 p.m., on Thursday at a high-rise apartment building in Rockville, according to a release. No injuries were reported.

When units arrived at the Grovesnor House Apartments located at 10101 Grosvenor Place, they found an electrical fire on the ninth floor of the 18-story building, with heavy smoke reported in the upper floors,, according to Pete Piringer, an MCFRS spokesman.

Around 85 firefighters responded to the scene of the fire and the building was vacated. The water flow alarm/sprinkler activation on the ninth floor helped contain the fire.
