ROCKVILLE, MD — A 32-year-old man was struck and killed by a car on Rockville Pike Thursday night, marking the second such death on the same stretch of road in two days, authorities said.

It happened near Wootton Parkway at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Montgomery County police said a 2014 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Rockville Pike approaching Wootton Parkway when it struck an adult male pedestrian.

The pedestrian, whom officials later identified as Rockville resident Brett Richard Badin, was trying to cross Rockville Pike in a westerly direction, according to police. He died at the scene.

Authorities say the adult male driver and adult female passenger were uninjured in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.

Less than 24 hours earlier, police were on the scene of another fatal pedestrian-involved collision. According to authorities, the adult male pedestrian was struck at 12260 Rockville Pike and the striking vehicle remained on the scene.
