3-Year-Old Hit By SUV In Rockville Parking Lot Has Died: Police

An SUV fatally struck a 3-year-old boy in a Sandy Spring parking lot in Rockville Tuesday afternoon, police said.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A 3-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in a Rockville parking lot on Tuesday.

Montgomery County Police say the incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. in the Sandy Spring Bank parking lot on Rockville Pike. The boy, identified as Antonio Martinez Cruz of Rockville, was crossing the travel portion of the parking lot when he was struck by a 2010 Ford Explorer. The driver, 44-year-old Pedro Zavala Leal of Riverdale, remained on the scene of the collision.

According to authorities, Cruz was trapped under the SUV. He was then rushed to a local hospital where he later died.
