Two Rockville Powerball players won $50,000 and $100,000 respectively in a recent drawing.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A recent Powerball drawing dealt a pair of wins to two jackpot chasers who purchased tickets from Maryland Lottery retailers in Rockville, the agency said in a news release. The winners discovered their luck on Oct. 23 and quickly headed to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim prizes of $50,004 and $100,000.

The Montgomery County winners explained to Lottery officials how they won a hefty Powerball prize despite being one number away from hitting the jackpot.

A Rockville man buying barbeque supplies also purchased his lucky quick-pick ticket at a 7-Eleven store at 824 Baltimore Road. The 46-year-old medical laboratory quality assurance inspector won $50,000 by matching four numbers and the Power Ball. Pizza night was the key to a $100,000 Powerball win for a lucky lady from Potomac. The 73-year-old retiree picked up her winning ticket with “the works,” including the Power Play feature, along with a pizza. Her lucky retailer was Broadway Pizza at 7965 Tuckerman Lane in Rockville. The college football fan’s game day celebrations require both pizza and Powerball, and Saturday’s purchase gave her two tasty treats.
