89 Pets Adopted During Clear The Shelters Event In Montgomery
Montgomery County residents turned out in droves to adopt animals during the fifth annual Clear the Shelters event on Saturday.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A total of 89 animals were adopted during Saturday's Clear The Shelters event in Montgomery County.
The nation's largest single-day pet adoption event is sponsored by NBC, and helps shelters nationwide find permanent and loving homes for homeless animals. On Saturday, Montgomery County waived adoption fees on all pets available.
"This year was a great success and we were so happy to see so many dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, fish, and even a horse find their forever homes," Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center wrote on Facebook. "Thank you!!!"

While the event was a success, county officials say there are still animals at the shelter looking for their furever home.
The adoption center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood.
