ROCKVILLE, MD — As the country continues to grapple with last week's mass shooting, Maryland State Police's Rockville Barrack will be hosting an active shooter training session.

The class, dubbed the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Training, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. It will take place at 7915 Montrose Rd. in Rockville.

Developed by The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University, the one-and-a-half hour class teaches people what to do if they are confronted with an active shooter event. Officials will cover the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and other topics during the session.
