Adoption Fees Waived During Clear The Shelter Event In Montgomery
Montgomery County will be waiving all adoption fees during the Clear The Shelter event on Aug. 17. Here's everything you need to know.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Animals Services and Adoption Center is joining animal shelters across Maryland on Saturday, Aug. 17, to participate in the fifth annual Clear The Shelters event.
The nation's largest single-day pet adoption event is sponsored by NBC, and helps shelters nationwide find permanent and loving homes for homeless animals. Montgomery County will be waiving adoption fees on all pets available.
The adoption center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood. The event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., but adoption counselors stop taking applicants at 4 p.m.

Parking
Parking will be limited. Once on-site parking is full, patrons should park at Covenant Life Church. A shuttle that runs every 15 minutes will take you to the facility.

Adoption officials are reminding people to leave their pets at home — never in a car — during this event.
What To Bring
- Every member of your household must attend the event. Those who can't make it to the adoption center must write a letter of consent.
- A Government issued ID.
- If you rent, you must bring the pet addendum of your lease.
- If there is no formal lease, bring a letter of authorization from homeowners allowing the type, breed, and number of pets you are applying for.
- Proof of license for all applicable pets living in Montgomery County, and rabies certificates for all applicable out-of-county pets in the home.
- The name and A-number of the animal you wish to adopt.
- Gear such as cat carriers, leashes, harnesses, etc.
