Adoption Fees Waived At Montgomery County Shelter: Dec. 12-15

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Animals Services and Adoption Center is waiving adoption fees for all animals during the 4th Annual Holiday SOS Adoption Event.

The county's nonprofit partner — Montgomery County Partners for Animal Well-Being (MCPAW for short) — will cover the cost of adoption fees from Thursday, Dec. 12 to Sunday, Dec. 15.

"We are hoping that none of our animals will have to spend the holidays without a loving family or warm home," the adoption center said in a statement.

The adoption center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood.

How To Adopt: A Quick Guide

Want to adopt? Here's some basic info to look over before visiting the shelter:

• You must...
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Bring your driver's license or other government issued photo ID
    • If the address on your ID is not your current address, you must bring a lease or closing statement listing your name and address, as secondary verification
  • Bring a lease with pet addendum that states you can have pets (listing size/breed/number of animals restrictions), if you rent a residence

  • Bring rabies vaccination certificates for all dogs, cats, or ferrets in your home (if applicable)
