Albornoz urges participation in MCFJCF 12k

Funds raised will help victims of domestic abuse

Catherine Albornoz, Chair of the 2021 Montgomery County Family Justice Center Foundation 12k, has a personal reason for leading the team to success.

“Several years ago, at an MCFJCF gala, I heard a survivor of domestic violence bravely share her story and the impact of the programs of the FJC on her life and her children's lives. I was deeply moved by her experience and felt called to put my time and support behind this critical work to impact victims in our community directly,” said Albornoz.

“My husband and I feel strongly that this is something that we and the community can come together and support. Our individual contributions may be small, but together through this organization, we can address the needs of the many individuals coming for services and impact change through education and awareness programs for youth. I hope many will join these efforts because we are stronger together.”

The MCFJC Foundation asks participants of all ages to walk, run or roll 12k (7.456 miles) from October 22-24, 2021, to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The first 250 registrants registered by September 15 will receive a hat with the logo before the race weekend.
Organizers give the option of walking, running, or rolling for 12k (7.456 miles). Participation in this event supports victims of domestic violence by providing pro-bono legal aid, emergency transportation, specialized counseling services, financial literacy training, emergency care kits and diapers, and formula.

The cost to register is $35.00 (race fee) and an additional $3.03 signup fee. Registration ends October 24, 2021, at 11:59 PM EDT. Details of the 12k can be found at MCFJC Foundation 12K to Help End Domestic Violence (runsignup.com)
