MONTGOMERY CO., MD — As National Drug Take Back Day kicks off this weekend, the Montgomery County Police Department has released a list of locations that residents can drop off any unused prescription drugs.
The one-day initiative allows residents to safely get rid of medications that could potentially be abused. All drop-offs are processed at no cost and are anonymous.
A total of nine locations have been established for the initiative, all scattered across the county.
Outside of the national day, the county hosts 24/7 drop-off drug disposal boxes inside the lobbies of all six district police stations.
Items that won't be accepted include: needles, inhalers, aerosol cans, thermometers, lotions or liquids, and hydrogen peroxide.
Residents can visit the following sites on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
Rockville
Bethesda
Silver Spring
Wheaton
Germantown
Gaithersburg
