MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A flood watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday for Montgomery County ahead of isolated thunderstorms.
The NWS notice is in effect from late Tuesday through Wednesday morning.
Forecasters warn storms could produce isolated rainfall totals ranging between 2 and 4 inches in a span of about two hours.
"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," reads the advisory.
"Showers are likely with isolated thunderstorms late tonight into Wednesday morning as a warm front lifts through the area."

The storms are expected to hit the central and southeast portions of the county, including areas such as Rockville, Olney, Chevy Chase and Silver Spring.
The majority of Maryland remains under a hazardous weather outlook, with officials warning that scattered thunderstorms are possible Thursday through Saturday in the afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts remain a threat, according to officials.

New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
