ROCKVILLE, MD — Tyler Kennard Thomas, a 33-year-old man from Rockville, is facing multiple charges for car thefts reported in the West End community.
Court records show Thomas is facing six counts of rogue and vagabond, four counts of theft and two counts of attempted theft.
Authorities say theft reports tied to Thomas were investigated for months, and that officials detected a significant spike in July.
The Rockville City Police Department said Thomas was first arrested Tuesday on the 200 block of N. Washington Street in Rockville.
He was detained after members of the department's Special Assignment Unit recognized him from an Aug. 19 surveillance photo released in connection with the car thefts.
However, he was arrested over an open warrant on a rogue and vagabond charge, which was linked to a different jurisdiction. It wasn't until Thursday that Thomas was arrested for the Rockville car thefts.
As the investigation remains ongoing, police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact Detective Pat Hinaris at (240) 314-8900.
