• The partial Red Line shutdown is almost over. Here's what it allowed Metro to build. (thebanner.com) — Red Line trains between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor-Strathmore will start running again Monday, restoring direct Metro access for Rockville-area commuters after more than 60 days of shuttle buses and lane closures on Rockville Pike. The shutdown let Metro build a new Bethesda mezzanine for the future Purple Line and tackle water-leak fixes and other upgrades at Grosvenor-Strathmore and nearby stations, with more Purple Line work continuing into 2027.
