OLNEY, MD — A popular salad shop will be opening its first restaurant in Montgomery County, marking its second expansion into Maryland.
The Chicken Salad Chick opening kicks off on Sept. 23 in the Olney Village Center, at 18209 Village Center Drive.
The opening will be followed by a week of freebies and specials, which include free chicken salad for a year for the first 100 guests who line up by 10 a.m. on opening day.
"We're thrilled to continue growing Chicken Salad Chick's footprint in Maryland," Scott Deviney, CEO and president of Chicken Salad Chick, said in a statement.
"Olney Village Center is the perfect location for us to introduce more guests to the Chicken Salad Chick experience. With lots of great shops and restaurants, it aligns with the community and family-focused atmosphere we aim to create."
The new location will be operated under the direction of co-owners Jim Schleckser and Carrie Tydings.
"When we were looking to open our own restaurant, we knew location was everything," Tydings said in a release.
"We were patiently waiting to find the right spot, and though it took some time, Olney was a great fit. The vibrant community has embraced The Chick, and we know our delicious food is going to resonate with guests here."
With a rich background in community support, officials will be raising money for the Manna Food Center nonprofit during its pre-opening family and friends event.
The Olney base will be open to residents Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The brand's first Maryland restaurant opened in Westminster.
Residents wanting to participate in the freebies must be 16 years or older and have the Chicken Salad Chick app downloaded prior to arrival.
