MoCo Police Issue Sketch Of Man Wanted For Attempted July 4th Kidnapping

Montgomery County Police say the man had carjacked, assaulted and attempted to kidnap a woman on July 4 in Rockville.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A sketch was released Tuesday of a man who authorities say is wanted for the attempted kidnapping of a woman during the July 4 weekend in Rockville.

Montgomery County Police said in a release that the incident took place shortly before 1 p.m. on July 4 at the 300 block of Croydon Avenue.

The man, according to investigators, entered the woman's vehicle and assaulted her before attempting to drive away from the scene with her.

Authorities said the woman was able to escape while the car was still in motion, adding that the vehicle was later found on the 11400 block of Parkvale Road.

The woman was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not said whether the woman recognized the man from any prior interaction. The individual was described as wearing a dark shirt and shorts.
