1. $25M Wrongful Death Suit Against Former Commanders Players Resolved: Report (patch.com) — Rockville residents are learning that a $25 million wrongful death lawsuit tied to the 2021 crash that killed Olivia Peters of Rockville has been resolved, with a judgment expected against former Commanders player Dehsazor Everett. The case alleged the players and a friend planned to race and drive recklessly in Loudoun County, and a court hearing on the resolution is scheduled for November.

Bus Shelter Robbery, Road Rage Gun Incident and Auto Thefts Among Incidents in Weekend Crime Summary (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County police logged a busy weekend in the 1st District, with several serious incidents in Rockville, including a bus-shelter robbery, shots fired on Piccard Drive, and multiple crimes along Rockville Pike and Upper Rock Circle. Residents can see where weapons arrests, burglaries, and vehicle thefts occurred to stay more aware of activity in their neighborhoods.
   

3. Weekly Crime Report for Sept. 29 – Oct. 5, 2026 (rockvillemd.gov) — Rockville residents can safely dispose of leftover prescriptions at Rockville City Police Department during DEA Take Back Day on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The latest weekly crime report also details numerous local arrests, thefts, assaults, vandalism, and vehicle break-ins across Rockville streets like Rockville Pike, Hungerford Drive, and Grand Champion Drive.
   

4. Five out of 12 reported Q3 closings due to retirements (furnituretoday.com) — A long-running Rockville furniture store, Furniture & Rug Depot, is closing after 30 years because it lost its lease, and is holding a final sale with discounts up to 75% and no set closing date yet. The piece also notes several other furniture retailers nationwide shutting down, many due to owner retirements and shifting retail conditions.
   

5. Black Lion Cafe plans to open College Park location this December (dbknews.com) — A familiar name for Rockville coffee lovers, Black Lion Café is expanding from its original Rockville shop and Silver Spring location to open a new café in College Park this December. The Ethiopian coffee spot will bring its handpicked, weekly roasted beans, simple food menu, and study-friendly seating to University of Maryland students while continuing to serve customers at its Rockville location.
