MCPS Bus Carrying 5 Students Hit By Van In Highway Crash: Police

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A county school bus carrying several students was involved in a highway crash Monday afternoon, Montgomery County Police said.

The collision took place on Interstate 495 between Connecticut Avenue and Rockville Pike. Authorities said the crash involved a Montgomery County Public Schools bus and two other cars.

Preliminary information from the scene indicates the bus was hit by a white van and that a total of five students were aboard when the crash unfolded.

Officials say no injuries were recorded.

A third vehicle tied to the crash fled the scene, according to police.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
