Bail Denied To Former Student Who Threatened Bethesda School
Eighteen-year-old Luis Amilcar Cabrera, a former Walter Johnson High School student who made threats against the school, was denied bail.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A former Walter Johnson High School student, who was arrested after police said he made threats directed at the high school, was denied bail on Monday. Luis Amilcar Cabrera, 18, was arrested on Oct. 18 in Towson with help from the Baltimore County Police Department and was charged with one count of threat of mass violence, officials said.
“This is an important first step in keeping students safe from someone who might do them harm. Holding the defendant on no-bond status is what we asked for as the ASA handling the matter mentioned in court in front of Judge Moffett that threats via social media were brought to the attention of the school resource officer at Walter Johnson High School. Charging Mr. Cabrera with threat of mass violence is appropriate in this matter,” said Ramon Korionoff, public affairs director for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
On Oct. 12, students told their school resource office that Cabrera allegedly posted photographs and a threatening statement to the social media app Snapchat, officials said.

Police allege the photo was of Cabrera holding an AR-15 rifle with loaded magazines and the words "school shooter" were included in the photo. Police say the students who notified their school resource officer also said that Cabrera had allegedly posted "I hate WJ" and "Ha, ha, I'm going to shoot up the school," within the past month.
"Cabrera has stated in videos that he owns the AR-15 and keeps it with him at all times for protection," police said in an Oct. 20 press release. "He is also seen holding a .40 caliber KelTek rifle."
