Bethesda Car Show Revs Up to Benefit Sick Kids
The Oct. 11 car show benefits The Children's Inn at National Institutes of Health, where families can stay at no cost.

Itās time to polish your vintage vehicle for the 24th annual Bethesda car show and family day to benefit The Childrenās Inn at National Institutes of Health.
The āCome Back to Bethesda Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show and Family Dayā will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. See the finest display of vintage, classic and custom cars in the showroom of Chevy Chase Acura, 7725 Wisconsin Ave., right down the street from the popular āTaste of Bethesdaā event.
The car show also features games, activities and performances for and by children of all ages. Bethesda dance studio Joy of Motion will showcase hip-hop companies HYPE and Groove Elements at 11:15 a.m. in front of The Childrenās Inn stage on Cheltenham Road. Steve Eckstromās local band Almos Blue performs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the main stage.

Also appearing will be Lenny Robinson, who has garnered national attention for his appearances as Batman. He will be available (along with his Batmobile) to pose for pictures between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Organizers say the āCome Back to Bethesdaā fundraiser is vital to The Childrenās Inn, a residential āplace like homeā for seriously ill children and their families who participate in groundbreaking medical treatments at the NIH, the worldās leading biomedical research center. Families stay together at The Inn for as long as they need to stay. Since opening in 1990, over 12,500 families have stayed at The Childrenās Inn -- free of charge.

āThe car show is a thrill for our families,ā said Kathy Russell, CEO of The Childrenās Inn. āThe event gives kids battling serious illness a chance to have fun and provides them with a needed break from long days of tests and treatments.ā
