Ingleside invites area residents to join us for 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's workshop this Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:30pm. “Early detection matters,” says Mikki Firor, of the Alzheimer’s Association of National Capital Area. Mikki will give a free lecture on early memory loss at the continuing care retirement community, Ingleside of King Farm. Event will be held in the multipurpose room, 701 King Farm Blvd., Rockville. According to the Alzheimer's Association, risk of Alzheimer's increases with age, and the majority of people with Alzheimer's are 65 and older. But Alzheimer's is not just a disease of old age. Up to 5 percent of people with the disease have early onset Alzheimer's which can appear when someone is in their 40s or 50s. Alzheimer's is the most common form of Dementia, which is defined as memory loss that significantly interferes with daily living.

Ingleside at King Farm, Rockville's newest continuing care retirement community boasts a full time Memory Activity Specialist, Bree Baldwin. Bree leads support groups in the Memory Care unit, and a Memory Caregiver Support group. She also facilitates The M.I.N.D. Club for independent Ingleside at King Farm members who wish to learn more about Alzheimer's and Dementia (M.I.N.D is an acronym for Moving In New Directions).
