Ingleside to Host Social Media Seminars for Seniors

Senior Citizens are becoming active on social media. Upcoming classes will help you get started, or take your skills to the next level.

Seniors, one would imagine, would be the last to adapt to Internet social media sites. But, did you know there are nearly a quarter of a million Facebook users over the age of 64 within a 50-mile radius of Rockville?

The Lifelong Learning Institute of Montgomery College, which targets the "over 50" set, will offer its popular Getting Social I, II and III classes beginning this month at Ingleside at King Farm, a continuing care retirement community in Rockville. The series begins on Wednesday, with Getting Social II, a lecture for seniors who are already subscribed to social media sites, but who want to take their skills to a new level.

Getting Social I is offered Feb. 8. This workshop is for the beginning user and is open to five students. Bring your laptop and teacher Michael Goldfarb will walk you through how to join a site and set up your page.
