Four Star Combo is best described as a 1950’s ‘house-rocking band’. Drawing on an encyclopedia knowledge of early American music, an FSC set typically romps through many different genres, with a heavy dose of Rockabilly and Honky Tonk, but including Blues, Doo Wop, Ballads &amp; Instrumentals. Sound of the band is stripped down and primal, with no attempt at modernization or any kind of damn fool 'fusion'. Repertoire includes well-known hits, fun obscurities, and original songs that sound like a time-warped 1950’s radio broadcast. FSC has been bringing its hard-driving traditionalism to the DC/NOVA area since 2008.

PLUS: Terri &amp; the Back Alley Rhythm Cats It’s a lively Roots Rock and Roll stew—rockabilly with a side of jump blues, early R&amp;B, and a dash of soul. Led by acclaimed guitarist Rick Whitehead, this powerhouse jazz trio features John Previti on bass and Nick Ruggieri on drums — three master musicians with deep roots in the Washington, D.C. jazz community. Formed in 1994, shortly after the passing of legendary guitarist Danny Gatton, the trio quickly earned a reputation for their tight interplay and virtuosic performances. They’ve appeared at premier venues including Blues Alley, Bohemian Caverns, the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and the Smithsonian Jazz Club.
Their first album, Live in Captivity, won the 1998 Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, followed by Live in Captivity, Again (2001) and So There We Were… (2006). Each member brings decades of experience: Whitehead’s lyrical guitar phrasing, Previti’s swinging power from years with Gatton and Charlie Byrd, and Ruggieri’s Berklee-honed rhythmic precision create a dynamic trio celebrated for both technical mastery and emotional depth.

Hank Dietle’s has been a labor of love for fans of the county’s oldest licensed bar for many years, serving up cold beer and warm memories since the 1916 store reopened as Hank Dietle’s Tavern in 1950. As development pressures were wiping out history along the pike, longtime fan Tony Huniak took over in 1990 to keep our beloved bar going. When the Quarry House burned in 2015, Tony welcomed Rockabilly Saturday Night to a new venue on the pike, carving out space for dancing in a homey social setting that proved a perfect fit for fans of live roots &amp; retro music. After Hank Dietle’s suffered a devastating fire in February 2018, fans rallied again to save the irreplaceable roadhouse. Chantal “Kiti” Gartner set up a Go Fund Me website to help the out of work employees and teamed with Mark Segraves and others to organize a benefit concert to launch a reconstruction effort. Thanks to their tireless efforts and many fans who contributed, the roof was repaired, the porch rebuilt, critical electrical work done, and interior walls rebuilt. Building on their efforts, three devotees of the historic tavern, Tommy Bowes, Sarah Bonner, and Alan Kresse, along with Gina Cocco, Lisa White, and Tom Helf, teamed up to complete work on the interior, recreate our beloved “Hank Dietle’s Cold Beer” sign, and get the institution rolling again. All are long-time supporters of Maryland’s live music and dance scene—musicians, promoters and entrepreneurs dedicated to ensuring that Hank Dietle’s rides again.
