Born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Washington, D.C. He satisfied his early musical cravings, playing trumpet in elementary school as well as the high school marching band and orchestra.
In his twenties, Charlie was a member of the house band at the Stardust Lounge in Waldorf, MD, playing dance sets between national acts - The Everly Brothers, Dennis Yost &amp; The Classics Four, Johnny Maestro &amp; The Brooklyn Bridge, Barbara Mandrell and many others.
1981 found Charlie relocating to the San Francisco Bay area and it was not too long before he was fronting a great R&amp;B outfit, The Dynatones. During his tenure in the Dynatones, the band toured nationally, opening for James Brown, Etta James, Roomful of Blues, Bonnie Bramlett, The Drifters and others.
Now, based in Annapolis, Maryland, Charlie has released a fine CD, "Worth The Wait". It features many of San Francisco's finest sidemen who provide a perfect setting for the Soul of this elegant singer.

• David has played in Goin' Goin' Gone for more than 40 years. What you might not know is that he and Russ Beeker had a duo called The Beverly Brothers that played at Kramerbooks for more than a decade. David's solo act includes a few GGG tunes but mostly it's songs that he wrote that the band never played, songs that move inside his soul, songs he sings to his living room walls.&nbsp;
• Skip played a lot of drums and guitar in his life until having an epiphany about music. He had an experience of knowing he could play the blues, and he just had to do it. He says surrendering in music is being drawn to play and being able to say, "I am a musician." Then, you just go with what you play in the moment. He also says, "Music is available to everybody." And it's important to just start, and you can learn to play music like being in a conversation.

The book is a collection of original essays that explore themes of home, resilience and connection, emphasizing the importance of community as America celebrates its 250th birthday. Tuckerman invites the public to attend a book signing and release party for 'Home, anew' on Thursday, July 2 at 2:30 p.m. to meet the voices from this community that were selected to contribute their stories to the book. Some residents will also read their personal stories aloud.

Singer/songwriter Jack Bond is a performing musician based in Maryland and Nashville, with a voice and guitar style shaped by years in Music City as a songwriter, performer, and studio guitarist. His credits include writing the title cut on Polydor artist Roy Buchanan’s album “That’s What I Am Here For” and dozens of appearances at Nashville’s world‑famous Bluebird Café.
Jack moves easily between Nashville country, Americana, pop, rock, and Christian songs, and continues to collaborate with top Nashville writers while producing guitar tracks and his own recordings. In 2018 he was invited to compose for the Songs of Love Foundation, joining artists such as Jason Mraz, Black Eyed Peas, and David Lee Roth in creating original songs for children facing serious medical challenges. His recent work includes “Blue Memories,” featured in the Hollywood indie film Turnover, and, of course, the crowd‑pleasing classic “Thank God It’s Friday.

The community of Montgomery Village will play host to its annual Independence Day parade and celebration on July 3, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 20020 Montgomery Village Ave, eventually making its way down Apple Ridge Road and toward the parking lot of the Apple Ridge Recreation Area.
The celebration portion starts at 10:30 a.m. with a concert band performance, lawn games and carnival rides.
Organizers for the festivities say residents interested in joining the parade can do so by arriving at 9 a.m. to register at the church. *Note, this event will officially start at 7:30 p.m., with bus shuttles starting at 7 p.m. Montgomery County officials announced Tuesday that the event will shift by 30 minutes due to the severe heat forecast for the region.
The&nbsp;Montgomery County&nbsp;250th "Shine Together" Independence Day celebration will be held at Albert Einstein High School on July 3, with festivities running from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Attendees can expect live music, with fireworks scheduled to kick off at 9:30 p.m. Organizers say the start time for the fireworks display&nbsp;may be adjusted depending on weather conditions.
Food vendors will be on scene and residents are allowed to bring lawn chairs, blankets and coolers. No pets, alcoholic beverages, or smoking is permitted.
"Sign language interpreter services and other auxiliary aids or services will be provided upon request with as much notice as possible, preferably at least three business days before the event," reads the county announcement.
On-site parking will only be available for individuals with disabilities, but free parking and shuttle service will be available at Westfield Wheaton (11160 Veirs Mill Road) from 6:30 p.m. Signs will be posted for event parking and shuttles.
Officials warn that anyone who parks at the mall before 6:30 p.m. runs the risk of being towed.

A 5K race will be hosted in Potomac by the&nbsp;Montgomery County Road Runners Club on July 4, 2026, at 8 a.m.
"Start your Independence Day celebration by running or walking this popular, long-standing Potomac course in celebration of liberty, courage, and togetherness," reads the announcement.
"Parking is located at the Potomac Presbyterian Church (10301 River Road), which is a short walk to the start/finish. All finishers will receive a commemorative cooling towel."
Bib/chip pickup runs from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., with an opening ceremony scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
The race officially gets underway at 8 a.m., and MCRRC organizers say that any participant arriving more than seven minutes late may not be allowed to start due to compliance with road closures.
Registration for the event comes with a $27 fee.

Residents are allowed to bring beach chairs or blankets, but they are not allowed to be placed within 100 feet of the stage.Safety guidelines list that none of the following items are permitted:<ul><li>Tents, outside alcohol, wheeled recreational devices, noisemakers, glass containers, drones, laser pointers, weapons, illegal substances, explosives, and no throwing footballs, flying discs, baseball or other projectiles.</li></ul>While service animals are allowed on the grounds, attendees are discouraged from bringing their pets.Amenities include: food and beverage vendors, restrooms — including ADA-accessible units, an ADA viewing platform, first aid and bike parking.Free parking will be available in lots along Shady Grove and Gaither roads and Piccard Drive."Attendees are encouraged to use Route 355, Gude Drive, and Shady Grove Road to access these parking lots. Hank Dietle’s has been a labor of love for fans of the county’s oldest licensed bar for many years, serving up cold beer and warm memories since the 1916 store reopened as Hank Dietle’s Tavern in 1950. As development pressures were wiping out history along the pike, longtime fan Tony Huniak took over in 1990 to keep our beloved bar going. When the Quarry House burned in 2015, Tony welcomed Rockabilly Saturday Night to a new venue on the pike, carving out space for dancing in a homey social setting that proved a perfect fit for fans of live roots &amp; retro music. After Hank Dietle’s suffered a devastating fire in February 2018, fans rallied again to save the irreplaceable roadhouse. Chantal “Kiti” Gartner set up a Go Fund Me website to help the out of work employees and teamed with Mark Segraves and others to organize a benefit concert to launch a reconstruction effort. Thanks to their tireless efforts and many fans who contributed, the roof was repaired, the porch rebuilt, critical electrical work done, and interior walls rebuilt. Building on their efforts, three devotees of the historic tavern, Tommy Bowes, Sarah Bonner, and Alan Kresse, along with Gina Cocco, Lisa White, and Tom Helf, teamed up to complete work on the interior, recreate our beloved “Hank Dietle’s Cold Beer” sign, and get the institution rolling again. All are long-time supporters of Maryland’s live music and dance scene—musicians, promoters and entrepreneurs dedicated to ensuring that Hank Dietle’s rides again.

Summer At Sandy Spring is a great Summer Day camp offering equal parts fun and uniqueness. For over thirty years, we have provided families with a safe, engaging, and active summer camp experience for children three years old to fourteen. With the sprawling Sandy Spring Friends School campus, we offer summer experiences for your children that will provide lifelong memories and friendships. Your children will have opportunities to explore Adventure Park, swim in our man-made pond, partake in our weekly theme weeks, enjoy daily hot lunches, and so much more!
