Led by acclaimed guitarist Rick Whitehead, this powerhouse jazz trio features John Previti on bass and Nick Ruggieri on drums — three master musicians with deep roots in the Washington, D.C. jazz community. Formed in 1994, shortly after the passing of legendary guitarist Danny Gatton, the trio quickly earned a reputation for their tight interplay and virtuosic performances. They’ve appeared at premier venues including Blues Alley, Bohemian Caverns, the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and the Smithsonian Jazz Club.
Their first album, Live in Captivity, won the 1998 Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, followed by Live in Captivity, Again (2001) and So There We Were… (2006). Each member brings decades of experience: Whitehead’s lyrical guitar phrasing, Previti’s swinging power from years with Gatton and Charlie Byrd, and Ruggieri’s Berklee-honed rhythmic precision create a dynamic trio celebrated for both technical mastery and emotional depth.

Andy Rutherford — Guitar/Slide/Vocals Andy has been a highly in-demand musician in the DC area for more than 35 years. He has won multiple WAMMIE awards with artists including The Thrillbillys, Ruthie and the Wranglers, and Little Pink.
Johnny Combs — Bass/Vocals Johnny has been a cornerstone of the DC-area music scene for over 40 years, performing with Evan Johns and the H-Bombs, Tex Rubinowitz, Pink and Black, and Doc Scantlin and the Imperial Palms Orchestra.

Suzanne Tsacoumis (The Greek) and her partner Steve Houk (The Freak) started their acoustic duo at home as the pandemic began in early 2020, and have since performed close to three dozen live shows, both virtual and in-person, garnering thousands of views online. Both are accomplished local musicians within different genres: Steve has been a rock &amp; roll lead singer for 16-plus years with local cover bands and duos and has sung lead in Bandhouse Gig shows at The Fillmore in Silver Spring and The Barns of Wolf Trap, and Suzanne is a classically trained clarinetist who plays with Fairfax’s Main Street Community Band, as well as The Four Winds, a local clarinet quartet. She took up guitar again as these two joined forces during the social distancing period to continue to play music, and let people engage. 
Steve is a three-time Emmy award-winning TV producer/director/writer and currently the host and producer of the Wammie-nominated online music interview show Living On Music With Steve Houk, which is seen on You Tube and is also a podcast on Spotify and others. Suzanne is the president and CEO of HumRRO, a non-profit consulting organization based in Alexandria.

Hank Dietle’s has been a labor of love for fans of the county’s oldest licensed bar for many years, serving up cold beer and warm memories since the 1916 store reopened as Hank Dietle’s Tavern in 1950. As development pressures were wiping out history along the pike, longtime fan Tony Huniak took over in 1990 to keep our beloved bar going. When the Quarry House burned in 2015, Tony welcomed Rockabilly Saturday Night to a new venue on the pike, carving out space for dancing in a homey social setting that proved a perfect fit for fans of live roots &amp; retro music. After Hank Dietle’s suffered a devastating fire in February 2018, fans rallied again to save the irreplaceable roadhouse. Chantal “Kiti” Gartner set up a Go Fund Me website to help the out of work employees and teamed with Mark Segraves and others to organize a benefit concert to launch a reconstruction effort. Thanks to their tireless efforts and many fans who contributed, the roof was repaired, the porch rebuilt, critical electrical work done, and interior walls rebuilt. Building on their efforts, three devotees of the historic tavern, Tommy Bowes, Sarah Bonner, and Alan Kresse, along with Gina Cocco, Lisa White, and Tom Helf, teamed up to complete work on the interior, recreate our beloved “Hank Dietle’s Cold Beer” sign, and get the institution rolling again. All are long-time supporters of Maryland’s live music and dance scene—musicians, promoters and entrepreneurs dedicated to ensuring that Hank Dietle’s rides again.
