Swing 5

Swing 5 will transport you back to France in the 1930s. Begin with the heartbeat of a slap bass and the pulse of two rhythm guitars. Add to it melodic runs sweetly played on the accordion and a soaring fiddle. What you get is the Swing 5 band playing jazz and swing music from a time when a night out meant live music that provokes the uncontrollable urge to dance! Lead by talented local guitarist James Key and influenced by the legendary Django Reinhardt, this is a show you won't want to miss!

Experienced dance teachers Katherine and Tony, who regularly teach at Glen Echo, will be offering a free basic lesson in Balboa — a footwork-focused dance style which is tailor made for fast-tempo tunes and crowded dance floors — at 7:15 pm before Swing 5 takes the stage. Come for the 30-minute lesson, then stay to put your new moves into practice on the Hank Dietle’s dance floor! No partner needed.

Come and visit the recently refreshed Historic Baptist Cemetery!
The stones in the cemetery have been cleaned and repaired, work funded in part by a grant from the James L. Trader Foundation for Maryland Burial Sites. We will talk about the restoration work and share stories about those who are buried here and how they lived. The Old Baptist Cemetery operated from 1839 to 1896 and contains some very familiar names on the remaining 28 stones. Worried about the weather? If the day is nice, we will be at the cemetery in person, in case of rain, we will have a presentation at the Red Brick Courthouse (29 Courthouse Sq).

Trunk or Treat is back for 2026! This free event provides a chance for those who may not normally have the chance to go trick-or-treating in a safe environment. Instead of going door to door, you go trunk to trunk! We have a designated space in the upper parking lot that is closed off to traffic to make sure the night is a fun and safe one. From 6-8 on Wednesday the 28th, come join Rockville Renters United, your local tenant associations, and all of your neighbors for a night of candy, frights, and community building. Costumes are highly encouraged.
Adults, we need your help! Make the event a success by volunteering to decorate your trunk and hand out treats to Rockville's youngest renters. Whether you have kids or not, this event is made possible by those community members who make the night special. No car? No worries! You can use a small table or just a chair. We'll give you a space to set up in and you'll still be eligible for the decorating contest.
Oh, and our contest for the best decorated trunk is back! Who ever the community selects as the "Trunk of the Year" will receive a trophy and, more importantly, covetable bragging rights.
¿No tienen vehículo?
