Car, Bus Windows Shot Out On I-270 Near Rockville, Gaithersburg

Police are searching for whoever used a pellet gun to shoot out windows in five vehicles on I-270 in the Rockville area.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Drivers on a stretch of Interstate 270 between Rockville and Gaithersburg were surprised to have their windows shot out Friday night. Maryland State Police are searching for whoever used a BB or pellet gun to shatter the driver-side windows in five vehicles — four cars and a Montgomery County RideOn bus.

Three cars and the bus were northbound on Interstate 270 south of Interstate 370 in the main lanes, authorities say, while the fifth vehicle was southbound on I-270 in the local lanes before Montrose Road. No injuries were reported in the shootings, which happened about 8 p.m.

Investigators say there is no evidence at this time that an actual firearm was used. No suspects have been identified.

State Police ask that anyone who saw a suspicious person or vehicle on or near Interstate 270 between Interstate 370 and Montrose Road contact the Rockville Barrack with descriptions and any tag information. Witnesses may remain anonymous. To share any tips, call 301-424-2101.
