Charming Town of Poolesville, Maryland Celebrates Sesquicentennial Anniversary
150th Anniversary Celebration Kicks-Off Series of Activities and Events
The Town of Poolesville officially kicked-off its Sesquicentennial year with a ceremony at the Town Commission meeting on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony was held at Poolesville Town Hall, 19721 Beall Street, Poolesville, Md.

The kick-off ceremony included the Town officials officially recognizing the 150th anniversary and a review of some of the key milestones in the Town’s storied history. The event also included discussions about more celebrations taking place throughout the anniversary year to commemorate the town’s founding in 1867.
“Celebrating our 150 years of rich history is important as we reflect upon our great founders, their goals for our community, and the moments etched throughout our history that has contributed to the fabric of the charming community Poolesville is known for today in Montgomery County, Maryland,” commented Jim Brown, President of the Poolesville Town Commission. “Our series of anniversary events will mirror the small town charm of our community and the people who make our town so welcoming for families and businesses to thrive.”

Some highlights of the Town’s planned activities and events that will take place for the remainder of the year include, but are not limited to: re-creating a photographic moment from 1867 when the townspeople gathered in the center of town for a group photo, the burial of a 2017 time capsule filled with current items of interest, and an eight-week scavenger hunt to learn more about the Township’s historical moments. Participants will have the opportunity to receive commemorative Poolesville 150th anniversary souvenirs.
