Chesterbrook Academy Preschoolers Donate $700 to Local Nonprofits

Students held a gift card drive to benefit Olney Help and decorated gingerbread houses for Ronald McDonald House of Maryland

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Olney recently donated more than $700 in gift cards to Olney Help, a nonprofit organization that provides short-term emergency food and financial assistance to individuals and families in need in Olney, Sandy Spring, Ashton, Brinklow and Brookeville, Md. Over the past few weeks, students collected a variety of gift cards and handmade holiday cards for local children supported by the organization.

Students also partnered with the Maryland Cake Club to decorate gingerbread houses for families supported by Ronald McDonald House of Maryland, which provides housing to families while their children are being treated at nearby hospitals for critical illnesses or traumatic injuries. Students decorated 15 gingerbread houses with a variety of donated candy and sweets, and the houses were donated to families staying at Ronald McDonald House to help brighten their day.

Through these initiatives, students learned the importance of spreading kindness and giving back to those in need, especially during the holiday season.
