County Accepting Applications To Fill Planning Board Vacancy
Residents interested in applying to be on Montgomery County's planning board should do so by 5 p.m. on March 18.
ROCKVILLE, MD — The Montgomery County Council is searching for residents interested in filling a vacancy on the county's planning board.
The first term of Republican Gerald Cichy will expire on June 14. This position cannot be filled by a Democrat.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.

Applicants must be a registered voter of Montgomery County when appointed, and can serve up to two four-year terms. No more than three members may be from the same political party.
According to county officials, annual compensation for board members is $30,000. The chair currently earns $209,754.

Board meetings are held all day every Thursday. On average, a member can spend two full days a week in scheduled and informal meetings, officials said.
Application Process and Deadline
Applicants should send submit a letter of interest and a resume (no more than 4 pages) listing professional and civic experience, political party affiliation, home and office telephone numbers, and an email address.
