Video Footage Of Fatal Pursuit On I-270 By MoCo Police Released By MD Investigators
Investigators from the Maryland Attorney General's Office released video footage of the May 20 fatal police pursuit on I-270.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Dashboard and body-worn camera video was released Tuesday in connection with a May 20 fatal vehicle pursuit involving officers of the Montgomery County Department of Police.
Around 5 a.m., MCDP officers responded to the report of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle parked in the area of Rockledge Drive in North Bethesda.
The video, which can be viewed below, shows officers approaching the vehicle and attempting to talk with the driver. When the driver fails to comply with the officers' requests to open his door, the officers draw their service weapons and shout at him to put his hands up.

At one point, the video shows police attempting to box the car in, but the man reverses his vehicle and drives off and onto northbound I-270.
What follows is a two-minute, high-speed chase that ends when the vehicle crashes into a righthand barrier in the northbound I-270 express lanes. This causes the car to spin and strike another vehicle before coming to a stop in the roadway.

The video includes body-worn camera footage showing officers approaching the vehicle on foot and discovering that the driver had been thrown from the vehicle during the crash.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle, 37-year-old Lawrence White of Washington, D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Occupants in the other vehicle involved in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The Office of the Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division, which is investigating the incident with the Maryland State Police Crash Team, released the dashboard and body-worn camera video.
Although IDD was required to release the video within 14 days of the incident, the release was delayed in order to allow investigators time to interview witnesses, according to police.
