Death at Red Roof Inn in Rockville Ruled Homicide

The victim died of trauma to the upper body early Saturday, say police, who believe she was working as a prostitute.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Authorities say a death Saturday at the Red Roof Inn in Rockville has been ruled a homicide.

Montgomery County Police are investigating the death of Keyonna Blakeney, 22, at the motel, 16001 Shady Grove Road

Montgomery County Police and Fire crews, along with Rockville City Police, were called to the inn just before noon Saturday, April 16, for the report of a death. Blakeney was found dead in a hotel room with trauma evident to her upper body.

The victim was assaulted and killed in her hotel room in the early morning hours of Saturday. Blakeney may have been working as a prostitute at the Red Roof Inn during that time, according to police.

While the state medical examiner has ruled that the death was a homicide, authorities have not specified how Blakeney was killed.

There has been no word on whether a suspect was seen near the crime scene.

Detectives ask anyone who may have information about the murder to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.
