25th Anniversary of NBC4/Telemundo Health Expo highlights activities for persons with physical disabilities

Disability Partnerships (www.disabilitypartnerships.org) a Montgomery county based 501c3 nonprofit will be hosting a series of health and wellness activities designed for persons with disabilities at the 25th annual NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo.
NBC4’s annual Health and Fitness Expo will celebrate 25 years of free medical screenings, health information and wellness demonstrations on March 10 – 11, 2018 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Volunteers from several for profit companies are partnering with Disability Partnerships to provide demonstrations for persons with physical disabilities on self-defense, nutritional counseling, seated Reiki sessions, Tai Chi and adaptive exercise.

Other highlights include:
EIGHT STAGES featuring demonstrations and interactive workouts, cooking, dancing, ways to keep kids healthy, and discussions moderated by NBC4 anchors and reporters. Discussion sessions include Virtual Reality in Medicine, Cancer Prevention, Teen Depression and Suicide, Sleep Matters, Understanding the Human Genome, Women’s Health and Alternative Therapies.

ACTIVIES including a Pickleball competition, Kids Play Day activities, a consortium of yoga studios programming mindfulness, meditation and yoga classes, accessible exercise, and rock climbing. Also, the Humane Rescue Alliance, a partner of NBC4’s Clear the Shelters, will be on site with animals available for adoption.
Tamara Maze Gallman, executive director and founder, Disability Partnerships states, "This is a unique opportunity for persons with physical disabilities to take advantage of activities that can improve the health of everyone in the community, not just able-bodied individuals. I'm very proud and excited about the work we are doing at the 2018 NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo. It puts a spotlight on the importance of health and wellness for persons with physical disabilities."
