Driver Cut Off Ohio Motorcyclist Killed In Crash: State Police
A motorcyclist from Ohio was killed July 6 when a car cut him off on the interstate near Rockville, Maryland State Police say.
ROCKVILLE, MD — A motorcyclist from Ohio was killed when a car cut him off on the interstate near Rockville and the biker was forced to the shoulder of a ramp, Maryland State Police say. Witnesses told police that the car did not strike the motorcycle, but did not stop at the crash site. Onlookers were unable to give police any registration information or describe the car's driver.
The fatal accident happened about 6 p.m. on the ramp from northbound I-270 to westbound I-370. Jonathan M. Thompson, 45, of Moraine, Ohio, was killed while riding a 2014 Harley Davidson. He was declared dead at the scene by Montgomery County EMS personnel.
A passenger on the motorcycle was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police did not identify Thompson's passenger.

Investigators say Thompson's motorcycle was traveling on the ramp to I-370. As it took the ramp to continue on westbound I-370, the Harley Davidson traveled to the right shoulder and onto a gravel portion of the shoulder, striking two street signs and part of the guardrail face.
Witnesses who remained on scene said an unidentified black passenger car cut off the motorcycle, causing it to travel onto the right shoulder.

Weather and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash, state police said.
Authorities closed the ramp to westbound I-370 for about three-and-a half hours.
