Elderly Brookeville Man Hit By Stray Gunshot, Maybe From Hunter
An 87-year-old Brookeville man was treated at an area hospital after being shot on his property, possibly by a hunter.

BROOKEVILLE, MD — An elderly Brookeville man was shot in the head Saturday afternoon, possibly by a shot fired by a hunter on nearby public land, according to Montgomery County Police.
The mishap was reported about 12:40 p.m. by an 87-year-old resident of the 3800 block of Elton Farm Road in Brookeville. Authorities say the man was walking up a hill on his property to his house when he heard what sounded like a gunshot and was struck on his head by an unknown object.
At a local hospital, doctors removed a small metallic projectile from the victim’s head. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Montgomery County Police officers and Maryland Natural Resources Police officers searched the area but did not locate anyone.
Detectives believe the shot might have unintentionally come from a hunter, since the resident’s property is adjacent to public land and is an area frequented by hunters.
