La rondine (The Swallow)

The American Center for Puccini Studies will present Puccini’s final full-length opera, La rondine (The Swallow), in concert on Saturday, March 24th at 7:00 p.m. at Rockville Christian Church, 301 Adclare Road, Rockville, MD.  The performance will be sung in Italian and printed translations will be available.  Tickets are $40 for priority Café Bullier seating and $20 for general admission.

The sparkle and glamour of Paris during the Belle Epoque provide the glorious backdrop for this romantic tale of love won and lost.  Magda spreads her wings in search of true love, but she, like the swallow, must return to the life she knows.  This is the mature Puccini at his most elegant and refined, and with the dynamic, real-life couple, Kay Krekow and Harry Dunstan performing the roles of Magda and Ruggero, it blooms into its rightful place in the glorious Puccini canon.  The cast also features Joy Stevans as Lisette, Arden Moscati as Prunier, Daniel Sherwood as Rambaldo, Sarah Heisler as Yvette, Kristina Goodwin as Bianca, Brenda Gumula as Suzy, with the forces of The Puccini Festival Chorus, all led by Maestro Michael Baitzer of the Washington Opera.

The popular Café Bullier will feature live cabaret entertainment provided by the Rosina Maciejko Developing Young Artists of the ACPS.  This priority seating will include admission to the Café before the performance and at intermissions, admission to the silent auction, and inclusive dinner, beverages, and desserts.  The Café opens at 5:30 p.m.
