One of the Washington area’s biggest collections of used Jewish books will be offered for sale at a huge event hosted by Tikvat Israel Congregation in Rockville, Md., on
Sunday, Jan. 15. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Approximately 5,000 books will be available,
organized in 10 categories, including Talmud and Rabbinic literature, philosophy and theology, history, Holocaust studies, Israel and Zionism, and Kabbalah and
Hasidism. There also will be an expanded Yiddish and Hebrew section over previous book sales, as well as more seforim (classic Jewish texts) than in past years. Most titles are priced at $1 to $5.
A copy of a 1948 newspaper front page announcing Israel’s statehood will be auctioned off at the event.
