Performance artist Candace Ridington portrays a nurse reminiscing about her time of service at Union Hotel Hospital in Washington, D.C. during the Civil War: its challenges, its rewards, its sadness. Candace’s character also recreates some of her interactions with other historic nurses. You will catch first-hand glimpses of Nurse Louisa May Alcott, Whitman, and others. The performance, both informative and poignant, will help you imagine what it was like when the nursing profession was new.
