Body Pulled From Seneca Creek Identified As Gaithersburg Man: Homicide Investigation
Family positively identifies 43-year-old Gaithersburg man as the homicide victim whose body police recovered from Seneca Creek on Sunday.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The family of a Gaithersburg man has positively identified him as the homicide victim whose body was recovered Sunday from Seneca Creek, according to police.
Family members told police that 43-year-old Jose Israel Centeno Velasquez, also known as Carlos, was last seen leaving his Girard Street home on Friday.
Montgomery County Police first reported the recovery of Centeno Velasquez's body on Sunday. In an effort to positively identify the victim, police released photos of the distinctive tattoos on the body and asked members of the public to come forward if they recognized them.

Although police are investigating Centeno Velasquez's death as a homicide, they did not provide information about the cause of death in this case.

Anyone who provides information that may lead to an arrest in connection with this homicide is eligible for a reward of up to $10,000. Callers are not required to identify themselves.
