Fatal Pedestrian Collision On Georgia Avenue In Aspen Hill Investigated

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Sunday, February 5, 2023, in the area of Georgia Avenue and Hewitt Avenue.

At approximately 7:37 p.m., officers from the 4th District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation has determined that the pedestrian was crossing the 13600 block of Georgia Avenue when she was struck by a blue 2002 Ford Taurus traveling northbound.

The driver remained on scene.

The female pedestrian, identified as 22-year-old, Ruth Noemi Bermudez-Chavez, was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
