FBI Agent Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Metro Shooting
Eduardo Valdivia shot another passenger on a Metro Red Line train in December, police said. The FBI agent is charged with attempted murder.
ROCKVILLE, MD — The FBI agent accused of shooting a passenger on a southbound Metro Red Line train in December 2020 has been indicted on an attempted murder charge, among other criminal charges. He was released Tuesday afternoon on good faith, WTOP reported.
Eduardo Valdivia, 37, is accused of shooting a man who confronted him on the train around 6:40 a.m. on Dec. 15, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
Valdivia been charged with attempted second-degree murder, assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment and use of a firearm while committing a felony, according to court records.

The WMATA account says that the man who was shot was taken to a hospital and survived the shooting. The incident happened near the Medical Center station in Bethesda, FOX DC reported.
Valdivia turned himself in, according to The Washington Post.

The FBI released a statement after the charges were filed that said, in part: "The FBI is aware of the recent charges brought by the Montgomery County, Maryland State's Attorney's Office involving an FBI Special Agent, and we are fully cooperating with the State's Attorney's Office on this matter. As is customary following a shooting incident, this matter will be subject to internal review."
Valdivia's next hearing is scheduled for June 11, according to court records.
