Firefighters Rescue Dog; Damage Estimated at $125K
Three people at home when the Rockville house caught fire made it out safely because of a smoke alarm, authorities say.
A house fire at 1001 Paul Drive in Rockville displaced eight people, four adults and four children, on Friday night, according to Montgomery Community Media.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer said a smoke alarm alerted three residents to the fire and the one adult and two children escaped safely. Firefighters rescued the family dog, April, from the burning house.
A curling iron left on a bed caused the fire, he said.
