Update: Rockville 4th of July Fireworks Still On
The Mattie J.T. Stepanek Peace Gathering was canceled, along with concerts and food vendors in Rockville. But fireworks are still on.

Rockville, MD — Two band concerts have been canceled and the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Peace Gathering were canceled, but the fireworks will go on as planned on the Fourth of July in Rockville, so far.
Performances by The Fugitive Brass Band and Rockville Concert Band are canceled, officials said Monday. And the show by the Nighthawks has been delayed until the rain passes, the city said at 7 p.m.
All events take place at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park. Schedule subject to change.

Things to know:
- No barbecuing or open flames allowed at the event site
- Recycle and garbage bins are located throughout the event
- Lost children should be taken to the first aid tent located along Piccard Dr.

Viewing Areas
The entertainment and fireworks can be viewed from the park grounds. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and food and beverage.
Parking
Parking is available for free in lots along Shady Grove Road, Gaither Road and Choke Cherry Road. These lots are conveniently located near the event site. There is no parking available in the King Farm neighborhood. Use main roads such at Route 355, Gude Drive, and Shady Grove Road to access these parking lots. Signs will direct people to public parking. View the public parking map.
Food and Beverage
Food and beverage will be available for purchase from several food vendors. Guests may also bring their own food and beverage. Please note that there is no barbecuing or open flames allowed on the event site.
The county Recreation Department is already alerting residents that the possibility of severe weather on Monday evening, July 4, could change plans for its two fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory at the South Germantown Recreational Park at 7 p.m. and Mid-County Sparkle at Einstein High School in Kensington at 7:30 p.m.
If activities are canceled, only the fireworks will be rescheduled for Tuesday, July 5, at 9:15 p.m., say parks officials.

Area Fireworks Shows
- In Gaithersburg, the July 4th extravaganza has moved indoors, to the Activity Center at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. Festival activities begin at 5 p.m. with live music by Millennium and The Lloyd Dobler Effect, strolling entertainers, an interactive DJ, family fun inflatables, lawn games, a food court, activity vendors and more. The half-hour fireworks show begins at dusk, about 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. Find out more, here.
- In Germantown, the South Germantown Recreation Park is the place to hear live music and to see the fireworks. The celebration begins at 7 p.m. with a concert and the fireworks should go off around 9:15 p.m. Find out more, here.
- In Kensington, enjoy a concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the fireworks are set to go off at 9:15 p.m. Find out more, here.
- In Poolesville, the Polo Grounds off Hughes Road are the place to see the fireworks. Find out more about the town’s celebration, here.
- In Rockville, the city’s celebration is set at Mattie. J. T. Stepanek Park in King Farm and it begins at 5 p.m. with a peace gathering. Details can be found, here.
- In Takoma Park, the Independence Day celebration begins with a parade and caps off at 9:30 p.m. with the town’s fireworks. Find out more, here.
Washington, DC: The grand-daddy of them all will be in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall event each year.
A day full of events includes the Independence Day Parade, United States Army Band concert and the Capitol Fourth concert, with the signature event being the fireworks celebration after dark.Fireworks are launched beginning at 9:09 p.m. from the reflecting pool area. The show lasts 17 minutes and 30 seconds and is visible from locations in D.C. and Virginia, according to the National Park Service.
