Germantown Pedestrian Hit on Rockville Pike, Critically Hurt
Montgomery County Police say a Germantown woman walking across Rockville Pike was hit by a Chevy Chase driver on Tuesday.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Germantown pedestrian crossing Rockville Pike Tuesday night suffered critical injuries when she was hit by a car, according to Montgomery County Police. The accident happened shortly after 7 p.m. near Rockville Pike (MD 355) and East Middle Lane.
Montgomery County Police say a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by Raphael Olegario, 43, of the 4200 block of East West Highway in Chevy Chase, was southbound on Rockville Pike. The pedestrian, identified as Marchelle Lindsey Edwards, 28, of the 13400 block of Duchin Road in Germantown, was crossing Rockville Pike when she was struck by the Honda.
Edwards was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.

Investigators are looking into what the traffic signal indicated at the time of the accident and whether Edwards was in the area of the crosswalk. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police at 240-773-6620.
