Glenview Hosts Rockville Art League's Juried Members' Show
Works in media from acrylics to wood are on display through May 30 at the Rockville Civic Center.
is hosting a juried show of works by members of the Rockville Art League throughout the month of May.
Artwork hangs in the gallery on the second floor of the mansion, which also provides views of the estate's expansive grounds from balconies flanking the gallery space.
The judge for this juried exhibit was Jose Dominquez, the executive director of the in Silver Spring.
The juried exhibit features winners in several categories, including oils and acrylics; watercolors; pastels, drawings, and hand pulled prints; mixed media, collage, experimental, and original computer-generated art; and sculpture and ceramics. The winners were:
- Jorge Bernal, best in show with "Cross Section" (encaustic monotype).
- Gale Bell, first place with "Alice" (lightfast markers).
- Susan Shand Weiss, first place with "Ewe" (watercolor).
- Marilyn Witkowski, first place with "Doc's Delray Beach, Florida" (acrylic).
- Jeffery Cooper, first place with "Sentry" (lyptus wood).
- Belinda Russell, first place with "Entangled" (mixed media).
- Anne Cherubim, second place with "Sunset in the Dell" (digital art).
- Trisha Coghan Fiorita, second place with "Fabbioli Cellars, Leesburg" (watercolor).
- Craig Whitt, second place with "Sunset Harbor" (oil).
- Noble Veirs III, second place with "Figure Study" (pastel).
- Ingrid Barnes, second place with "Shino Basket" (clay).
- Barbara Hughes Meima, third place with "Cosmic Crystals" (sculpture).
- Fred Ruckdeschel, third place with "Pink Tennis Balls" (collage).
- Linda Greigg, third place with "Fading Light, Winter Night" (pastel).
- Jackie Hoysted, third Place with "Variations V" (acrylic).
- Marjan Henkin, third place with "Got Treats?" (watercolor).
- Anne Cherubim, honorable mention with "In the Cave" (acrylic).
- Carroll Saussy, honorable mention with "Hilly the Cat" (collage).
- Norma Wangel, honorable mention with "Construction" (collage).
- Carol Clatterbuck, honorable mention with "Moonlit Woods" (linocut).
- Jim McMahon, honorable mention with "Mies I" (watercolor).
- Noble Veirs III, honorable mention with "After the Show" (oil).
- Elise Chang, honorable mention with "Here Comes the Spring" (sumi-e watercolor).
The Rockville Art League is a non-profit organization and holds two shows annually at Glenview Mansion and has been serving its member base since 1957. The current show runs through May 30.

Gallery hours at Glenview Mansion are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
