Glitter Grenade Temporarily Closes Library, Nearby Streets

A glitter bomb was delivered to the Rockville Memorial Library on Monday, causing a flurry of activity as first responders worked to determine the seriousness of the threat.

After an employee opened a letter, three staff members were showered with glitter and an unidentified powder, according to NBC Washington.

Concerned about the device, officials closed the facility, blocked off roads and quarantined workers before Hazmat crews determined it was a glitter grenade, according to WJLA.

No hazard was found and the library reopened later in the afternoon, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
