ROCKVILLE, MD —New Mark Commons homeowners association is offering a $1,000 reward for a video showing or information about the killing of a Canada goose at Lake New Mark on Sunday, according to a police release.

Around 8-8:30 p.m., on Sunday, at least three boys were reported in the area where a family of four geese were seen, according to police. The geese were heard making distressing noises and three of the geese swam frantically away.

The boys were seen running in the direction of the bridge or around 226-216 New Mark Esplanade, according to police. After the boys had left the area, an adult goose was found dead in the lake, suffering from severe injuries.

Police described the boys as being between 12-15 years of age. One of the boys was described as having a slender build and wearing a bright yellow shirt or light jacket. The second male was described as being of slender build, but no identifying information was provided about what he was wearing or the appearance of the third boy.

Police ask anyone with information or video of the boys in the area of Lake New Mark on Sunday evening is asked to call 240-314-8933 or email Officer Cowell at FMowell@rockvillemd.gov. A $1,000 reward has been offered to anyone who can provide information that leads to a conviction in this case.
