ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Police have identified the suspects involved in Thursday morning's gun shop robbery in Rockville.

Brandon Allen Jackson, 17, Terrance Massey, Jr., 21, and a 15-year-old juvenile — all from Anne Arundel County — were arrested and charged for the crime, according to police. Patch does not publish the names of juveniles who are facing charges. Jackson's name has been released because he was the only person under 18 charged as an adult.

Thursday's incident happened around 2:30 a.m. According to Marcus Jones — Montgomery County's acting police chief — five suspects used a stolen car to ram into United Gun Shop, triggering the alarm. About four minutes after the alarm was triggered, police arrived at 5465 Randolph Rd. and tried to prevent the thieves from getting away.

While fleeing the scene, the suspects rammed a second stolen getaway car at a police cruiser.

Jones says the officer fired multiple shots at the car as it exited onto Randolph Road.

Authorities have identified the officer who discharged his weapon as John Gloss, a 20-year veteran assigned to the Patrol Services Bureau. Per standard protocol, Gloss has been placed on administrative leave pending review.

According to police, the five suspects in the getaway car traveled down Randolph Road for approximately a quarter mile before becoming disabled. Four of the suspects fled the area. When officers arrived, they found one of the suspects dead inside the vehicle.

Officials have identified the deceased suspect as 17-year-old Marquis Weems, of Anne Arundel County.

While searching for the outstanding suspects, authorities said they found a bag of guns from the store in a resident's backyard. They also found three handguns in the vehicle on Randolph Road.

As of Friday afternoon, 17 guns have been recovered. Police say there are still 10 stolen firearms missing from United Gun Shop.

Detectives have also linked the burglary in Rockville to a second burglary in Howard County. That incident happened in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

A stolen car was used to ram into Fox's Firearms in Laurel around 2 a.m., according to Howard County Police. Multiple guns were stolen from the firearms dealer.

"Investigators continue to work with the ATF to develop further information regarding the stolen firearms from both the Montgomery County and Howard County gun store burglaries," the Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement. "Howard County Police are continuing their investigation and anticipate filing similar charges in the near future."

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying additional suspects in this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
